The California Wildfires

In the unfortunate reality that is the acceleration of Global Warming, California is burning, once again. It is sad that the state even has to have its own annual “Wildfire Season” but that’s just where things are at and I am just commenting… According to the Los Angeles Times, there have already been twice as many acres burned than at the same time last year, with many more fires. Exacerbated by the recent heat wave in the northern part of the state, and combined withe the overall drought in the mountains and inland parts of the state alike, it is an alarmingly and scary situation. It is so dire that the governor has asked residents to cut back on water consumption by 15%, which is water that barely exists anyways. California is bone dry.

The optimist part of me wants to believe there is an easy solution out there somewherem, but it is really tough to be able to see the forest through the trees on this situation (no pun intended). Global Warming is the clear culprit, and things are just getting worse and worse every year. The only thing I can think of at the moment is building large scale desalination plants along the Pacific Ocean to draw water from it (which also makes sense sas water levels are rising from global warming) — I don’t know if this is possible or maybe already going on, but I know the technology exists so just an idea. Anyways, it is very sad to see what we as humans have done to our planet. We are starting to see the major effects as regions of the world, like California, are suffering bigtime.

I have family and friends out in California and have always entertained the thought of moving out there because of the weather, but I’m not so sure about the whole situation. Obviously, millions of people live there so of course the situation is nothing new to them but I just can’t get over how uneasy living there must be becoming for a lot of people. Hoping for better times ahead for California and its drought.
