What I Want to Accomplish in 2021

As the calendar turned over a few nights ago, it was tough to feel the usual optimism given all of the craziness going on in the world right now. But even among the weird emotions right now amind the ongoing pandemic, there is a lot to be hopeful for as the new year begins, at least in my mind. It is a time to look inwards and try and work on things to improve on and make me feel more happy and fulfilled. Here are some of these items.

I want to eat more healthy this year. I’ve never really wanted what I eat and don’t give it much thought in general, but at this point in my life I think I would feel better physically if I ate unhealthy foods / sweets less often, and made sure to watch the ingredients that go into my stomah more closely. Luckily, I have been blessed with good health and am pretty active so this is not an active issue, but better to be proactive rather than reactive when it comes to my physical being.

I like to travel a lot and value these experiences more than material things. 2020 was a weird year with this of course, but there are ways to travel safely at this point in the pandemic. The point in my mind is that I do not want to make the excuse of the pandemic to avoid making plas to travel, either by myself or with a small group, because I have been doing that a lot lately. Traveling is important to my well-being, so I am going to be sure to prioritize it in 2021.

Giving back to the community is another thing that I want to make an effort to do this year. Most likely in the form of volunteering, this is something that I have not done a lot of in the past, unfortunately, but it is something I value. There is a lot of need in our communities and here in the dense city of Chicago that is no different. Observing 2020 unfold helped make me more acutely aware of this than ever before, and helped me realized how fortunate I am to have all my basic necessities and a roof over my head. To be determined what form this take on, but it will be a top item on my list to remain a priority.
